New ULC course opportunity in computer-aided design and manufacturing launches

Arizona State University is offering RAS 210 Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) through its Universal Learner Courses program. Universal Learner Courses give high school students and other learners access to university-level coursework for a $25 upfront cost with the option to pay $400 for academic credit upon completion.
This hands-on course is a practical entry point into engineering and manufacturing. In the 16-week, three-credit class beginning Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, students learn to design 3D models, create engineering drawings, generate computer numerical control, or CNC, toolpaths and prepare files for 3D printing and other automated production processes. These skills are widely used in engineering, robotics, aerospace and product design.
RAS 210 Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) is especially valuable for Arizona students as the state’s semiconductor and microelectronics industries continue to grow. The course introduces foundational skills used in chip manufacturing, automation, fabrication labs and robotics while helping learners explore potential engineering majors and career paths. In many cases, academic credit earned through this course may transfer to other institutions.
