Fulton Schools Values Spotlight: Christine Selman

The Fulton Schools Values help define how we work together, serve our students and advance our shared mission. Across the Fulton Schools, faculty and staff put these values into practice every day through how they collaborate, innovate, lead and support others. In this edition, we highlight a member of our community who exemplifies Cultivate Excellence through a commitment to high-quality work and the success of those around them.
Christine Selman, Student Services Coordinator, Sr., School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence
When staffing needs arose at the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence’s advising front desk, Christine Selman stepped in. Originally brought on to support graduate admissions, Selman began splitting her time between admissions and the front desk, adjusting her schedule as needed to ensure students could continue to receive support. At the same time, she maintained her graduate admissions responsibilities, assisting with application review, doctoral application packets and other processes supporting prospective and current graduate students.
Selman’s performance and dependability led her to take on another responsibility: supervising the school’s front desk student worker team. She now manages hiring and scheduling, meets regularly with student workers and sets expectations that have helped raise the team’s level of professionalism and provide more consistent service to students, faculty and staff. By setting high standards for others while demonstrating those same standards through her own adaptability, accountability and willingness to help, Selman exemplifies the Fulton Schools value of Cultivate Excellence.
The Fulton Schools defines Cultivating Excellence as contributing to a culture and environment that supports healthy growth in yourself and others; create positive impact through high-quality contributions to the Fulton Schools, ASU and beyond.
The Fulton Schools Values Spotlight celebrates members of our community who bring our values to life through their work. This recurring In the Loop series highlights faculty and staff whose contributions demonstrate the Fulton Schools values in action and make a meaningful difference for their colleagues, students and the communities we serve.
