Submit projects for the 2023 Summer Research Initiative (SURI) by November 28

Project submissions from interested faculty are now being accepted for the Summer Research Initiative (SURI) for 2023. The purpose of SURI is to improve doctoral student recruitment by enabling both domestic and international students, including ASU students, to participate in summer research under the mentorship of Fulton Schools research faculty. Hosting a SURI student means working with and mentoring your students throughout the eight-week summer period (tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, May 30, 2023, to Friday, July 21, 2023).

For SURI 2023, selected students will be offered a $5,000 stipend plus living expenses and additional support programming designed to build community, offer networking opportunities with industry partners and encourage participants to prepare for and consider pursuing a doctoral degree. In all, each student package is equivalent to approximately $10,000. To participate in the SURI program, we will be asking that faculty be prepared to contribute $2,000 for each student position and that their school also be able to contribute $2,000 for each student package.

If you are interested in hosting one or more SURI students for the Summer 2023 program, please complete the SURI Faculty Program Submission Form by Monday, November 28, 2022.

Contact Kae Sawyer at [email protected] with any questions.

The application for students will open on Thursday, December 1, 2022, and close on February 1, 2023. Faculty are invited to encourage interested and eligible students to apply.
