School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering faculty members are invited to participate in the U.S.-Israel Cybersecurity R&D for Energy, or ICRDE, Workshop V. This 3-day event jointly hosted by Arizona State University and the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and sponsored by the BIRD Foundation.

Dean Kyle Squires will kick off this event being held at the Hyatt Place Tempe Hotel on Monday, Oct. 9, 2023. School Director Philips will explain how ECEE supports the consortium development on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023. More than 70 participants from Israel universities, the Israel Ministry of Energy, the Office of the Consulate General of Israel, U.S. universities, the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. national labs and industry are expected to attend. Some of these participants include:

  • Tal Fischelovitch, director of partnerships, U.S.-Israel Energy Center.
  • Gideon Friedmann, chief scientist, Israel Ministry of Energy.
  • Israel Bachar, consul general, Office of Consulate General of Israel, Los Angeles.  
  • Julia Rosen, vice president of global academic initiatives, ASU.
  • Jared Bierbach, senior international relations, U.S. Department of Energy.

Learn about progress updates and outcomes of this Israel-U.S. binational joint project with cybersecurity experts from industry, academia, national laboratories and government agencies. In addition to the invited presentations, there will be a one-day meeting with industry experts focusing on emerging technologies and some of the urgent R&D needs in cybersecurity for energy systems. The presentations are on tool development, integration, demonstration of the practical values and potential impact of research outcomes including cyberattack monitoring and mitigation, and commercialization in collaboration with industry partners.
