Attend workshop from Nature Masterclasses trainer on harnessing generative AI in academic writing, April 24

Attend a workshop on responsible use of generative AI in academic writing! Learn how to use generative artificial intelligence, or AI, tools responsibly in academic writing at this live workshop led by Nature Masterclasses expert trainer Harry Shirley, Editorial Development Manager at Nature Portfolio.
Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT are transforming scientific writing and publishing. This session will introduce how these tools work, their limitations — including bias and ethical considerations — and how researchers can use them responsibly in alignment with editorial policies.
Participants will explore practical use cases to improve productivity, clarity and creativity in academic writing. The workshop will also review current publisher guidelines on AI use, including authorship and disclosure requirements, and examine the broader impact of generative AI on research and publishing. Attendees will gain actionable strategies for integrating AI into research workflows.
Shirley has nearly a decade of academic research experience and multiple publications in chemistry. After earning a doctorate in chemistry from the University of London, he conducted research in leading research groups in Auckland, New Zealand, and Oxford, United Kingdom. He has led more than 100 workshops across more than 20 countries in the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East and is passionate about supporting researchers worldwide.
