The members of the Assembly of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, or AFSE, are represented by the executive committee, or EC, which provides guidance to the dean, has monthly meetings and gives feedback to the faculty on governance. The secretary is an important officer of the EC, who is elected by the members of the AFSE.

A nomination committee has been formed by the EC and has been assigned the task of organizing the election of the secretary. The nomination committee wants to give an opportunity to every interested member of AFSE to be a candidate for this secretary election.

The duties of the secretary, as described by the AFSE bylaws are as follows:

  1. Be elected for a three-year term from the AFSE membership.
  2. Serve as a non-voting member on the executive committee of the AFSE.
  3. Edit the minutes and all of announcements of the AFSE before they are published and/or distributed.
  4. Assist in the preparation of all documents necessary for the deliberations of AFSE, including the agenda, before they are distributed.
  5. Review the Bylaws of the Fulton Schools annually to update ACD policy manual references, propose amendments to these Bylaws necessary to maintain consistency with university policy and ensure that the updated document is available to every current member via an appropriate website.
  6. Be assisted by an appropriate staff member appointed by the Dean. This staff member will take the necessary notes to prepare the minutes of the AFSE and will prepare other announcements for subsequent publication and/or distribution, as directed by the Secretary of the AFSE.
