Learn how you can prevent sexual violence during Sexual Assault Awareness Month this April
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, or SAAM, and ASU has several opportunities for you to be part of a university-wide effort to prevent sexual violence. We each have a responsibility to create a caring and inclusive learning environment where violence is not normalized or tolerated. The theme of national Sexual Assault Awareness Month 2023 is “Drawing Connections: Prevention Demands Equity.”
Here are some ways you can contribute:
-
- Familiarize yourself with the SAAM Webpage to see an overview of the month, and learn more about resources, poster series, and events. Reach out to [email protected] if you would like to offer extra credit for an event. Please be sure to share the SAAM Promotional Packet on Canvas and through other distribution channels to students.
- Use the Sexual Assault Awareness Month Social Media Toolkit and Shared Drive or download the resources packet in order to access flyers, social media graphics, and Zoom backgrounds.
- Support survivors and participate in ASU Denim Day on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, by following five easy steps on the ASU Denim Day website. Be sure to request Denim Day stickers by Thursday, April 20, 2023, and when possible please coordinate with your colleagues to ensure we only receive one request per department.
- Share these flyers and inform your students of the Sexual and Relationship Violence Program.
- Familiarize yourself with the reporting process/options and campus resources, should a student want to report sexual misconduct.
Thank you for your support! Please feel free to reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions.
