Working with the Department of Defense can be incredibly rewarding — but how does one get started?

Please join the Global Security Initiative, or GSI, for an informative webinar on how to create a strategy to advance your research interests within the DOD’s mission space. One key aspect is framing your research interests to show alignment with the defense and security mission. We’ll talk about the DOD’s need for fundamental research and different ways to show that your work is applicable. Another important factor is creating strong relationships with program managers. We’ll discuss the different facets of the DOD — “who’s who in the zoo” — how to find the right connection and make “first contact.”

We’ll also talk about how to build a strong team for large efforts, and how to write a winning proposal for sponsors like the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or DAPRA; Office of Naval Research, or ONR; Army Research Office, or ARO; and others. Of course, we’ll also discuss how to manage a big program once you win! Please bring your questions for Q&A after the presentation.
