The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering offers summer research internships for qualified U.S. citizens and permanent residents, as well as students from international universities. Participating faculty are connected to qualified students who pursue 8-week-long research projects from Wednesday, May 25, 2022, to Friday, July 22, 2022. The Summer Research Internships Program, or SURI, will support both in-person and virtual research projects in 2022.
Students across all branches of engineering are invited to apply. Students between the junior and senior years of their undergraduate degree and those pursuing master’s degrees who are interested in earning a doctoral degree are given highest consideration.
The goal of SURI is to improve doctoral student recruitment by enabling both domestic and international students, including ASU students, to participate in summer research, much like an NSF REU site. Domestic students are typically provided with a stipend while international students pay to participate and work on a volunteer basis.
If you are interested in hosting one or more SURI students, please enter brief descriptions of your projects in the SURI Faculty Submission Sheet by Monday, November 29, 2021.
Hosting a SURI student means working with and mentoring them throughout the 8-week summer period. Applications will open to students on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.
