The Office of the Vice Dean for Research and Innovation is pleased to announce the launch of a new seed funding program to support ASU research in several key areas of strategic interest: energy, human performance, extreme environments, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and future communications technologies.

The 2021 Strategic Interest Seed Funding Program: Working Collaboratively to Meet Future Needs encourages collaborative projects that enable Fulton Schools faculty to conceptualize their interests in a new and innovative way. The program encourages faculty teams to develop a new and innovative research question or methodology that could lead to future funding opportunities from various external sponsors. In this call, we are addressing areas relevant to Arizona’s New Economy Initiative as we expect these key areas to remain of interest across the state and region.

The maximum allowable funding for each project is $25,000. Collaboration across disciplines in the focus areas is an opportunity to empower engineering linkages across a variety of interests and position research ideas for upcoming opportunities. Proposers are encouraged to emphasize industrial ties, particularly regional ones, and address how the project may eventually advance universal learning initiatives and opportunities to train the workforce.
