As we conclude this very unusual semester, I want to again offer my gratitude for your flexibility and engagement as we collectively work through all that is changing. Among those changes is looking forward to celebrating graduation online.
The university’s online commencement ceremony will be pre-recorded and released on YouTube at 9 a.m. MST on May 11, 2020. The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering will host one pre-recorded online convocation ceremony, available on YouTube at 9 a.m. MST on May 12, 2020. The pre-recorded video will include required elements from the president and provost, announcements of the university outstanding graduates, and announcements of our outstanding grads and Impact Award winners. Portions of the pre-recorded ceremony and additional separate videos of our student speakers will be posted to a “virtual ceremony” page where each student can find their own slide announcing their name and highlighting their degree. Students can also submit a photo and personal message which will be included on the slide. This semester’s graduating students are also invited to walk in either the Fall 2020 or Spring 2021 convocation ceremonies. Further information and updates can be found at convocation.engineering.asu.edu.
In addition, there will be a “homepage takeover” of engineering.asu.edu with written profiles of selected graduates, photos and additional videos. We are planning a compilation video of congratulations messages from our faculty and staff to our students as well as increased social media engagement May 11–May 13.
I encourage you to use the hashtags #asugrad and #asuengineering when interacting with your students on social media so that we can also recognize their achievements. And if you want to submit a video of your message to the Class of 2020, please contact Stephanie Mabee, email@example.com, to find out how you can participate.
Let’s make this a graduation to remember!
