To protect the privacy and security of our community, UTO is enabling three additional features for Zoom. These features will increase the protection of your Zoom gatherings against unauthorized access and content sharing.

These security enhancements for waiting rooms, screen sharing, and managed domain are currently available and will become the standard configuration for all ASU Zoom accounts on Friday, April 17, 2020.

Managed domains

ASU has enabled managed domain on our ASU Zoom enterprise accounts. This means that if you have a Zoom account set up at https://zoom.us using an email address with the @asu.edu domain, you will be prompted to consolidate your accounts or change your email address the next time you log in. For additional information please refer to our knowledge article.

Waiting rooms

The waiting room with guest only feature is being enabled on all ASU Zoom accounts. This will allow all participants who are signed into their ASU Zoom account automatically in and everyone else will be sent to the waiting room. This feature allows the host to control when a participant joins the meeting making it more secure. Visit our knowledge article for more information.

Screen sharing

Zoom allows for screen sharing on desktop, tablet and mobile devices. For the security of meetings, the default setting in ASU Zoom will only allow for hosts to share their screen. Community members do have the ability to change this setting on their ASU Zoom account or grant access during a meeting. Visit our knowledge article from more information.
