Former electrical engineering doctoral student Qiuhua Huang and Regents Professor Vijay Vittal earned the 2019 IEEE Power and Energy Society Prize Paper Award for “Integrated Transmission & Distribution System Power Flow and Dynamic Simulations Using Mixed Three-Sequence Three-Phase Modeling.” The paper was published September 2017 in IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, Vol. 32, No. 5.
Vittal is the Ira A. Fulton Chair Professor and ASU Foundation Professor in Electric Power Systems. In 2018, he received the IEEE Power and Energy Society Prabha. S. Kundur Power System Dynamics and Control Award and the Utility Variable-Generation Integration Group Achievement Award.
Huang earned his doctorate from the Fulton Schools in 2016. He is now a senior power system research engineer at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
