Dreams Soar is an initiative run by Shaesta Waiz. Born on a refugee camp in Afghanistan, Waiz and her family escaped the Soviet-Afghan war and moved to the United States in 1987. Now, she is the first civilian female pilot from Afghanistan and the youngest female to attempt a solo flight around the world. As she travels around the world, Waiz will make 30 stops in 18 countries on five different continents where she will collaborate with women and host outreach events focused on promoting careers in STEM.
The Global Flight for STEM event will be an interactive session hosted by Shaesta Waiz and will feature opportunities to learn about careers in technology and aviation and to network with professionals in the STEM field. Lunch will be provided.
