Watch the students sink (or swim) their life-size cardboard boats!
Build a cardboard boat that floats — with you and two teammates in it. Race your boat across the Sun Devil Fitness Complex pool and compete for prizes. May the best boat float! Faculty and staff are encouraged to build a boat or participate with students.
One team will be crowned the boat race champion for the Polytechnic campus, with first, second, and third place winners for the fastest times… assuming we have three finishers! Other prizes awarded include:
- Pride of the Regatta – The most creative design and best use of corrugated cardboard.
- Best Dressed Team – Costumes may be funny, spiffy, or elegant, but above all, they must be creative.
- Team Spirit Award – Most spirited and best organized team. The looks of the boat don’t count here!
- Titanic Award – Most spectacular sinking. To qualify, you must salvage the remains completely.
