Innovators shine, earn funding through eSeed Challenge
The Fulton Schools of Engineering eSeed Challenge, the premiere program of the new Fulton Schools Startup Center, enables students to win up to $6,000 in seed funding and an all-expenses paid innovation field trip to advance their entrepreneurial ventures. Fifteen teams of student entrepreneurs pitched their business startup ideas Nov. 19 to a panel of experts, in the Fall 2015 eSeed Challenge. Ten of the teams were selected to receive an additional $5,000 in funds and admission into the eSeed Accelerator to further their ventures. Read on Full Circle
ASU engineers working to protect nation’s energy delivery systems from cyber attacks
Arizona State University has been named a partner in a $28.1 million national research program to develop cybersecurity tools and standards to protect the country’s electricity infrastructure from attacks. The Cyber Resilient Energy Delivery Consortium (CREDC) is led by the University of Illinois which will work with 11 other universities including ASU. The Fulton Schools is leading ASU’s effort, under the leadership of Anna Scaglione and Gail-Joon Ahn. The CREDC consortium will undertake research, development, education, and outreach activities—with intense industry engagement—to develop solutions. Read on Full Circle
ASU grad combines art, construction skills to help honor fallen firefighters
The decorative concrete slab featuring an engraved Maltese Cross at the Arizona Fallen Firefighters & Emergency Paramedics Memorial was designed and etched by ASU alumnus Joshua Marriott. Marriott had studied art and architecture in college before coming to ASU and earning a degree in 2012 in construction management—with a concentration in concrete industry management—in the Del E.
