Emeritus professor Joseph Hui will present a lecture and book signing on his book “What’s the matter with energy.”
The book tells a story of space, time, matter, energy and energy conversion and is the basis for a new course in spring 2016, EEE498.
The lecture will also introduce the Hui turbine, which is a small, simple and efficient heat engine to turn solar thermal power into electricity. It is based on concentrated solar power, which is more efficient than solar panels. The unit can be used for solar power for electricity, heating, chilling and desalination of water.
