Hanghang Tong and two colleagues won the IEEE ICDM 2015 (International Conference on Data Mining) Ten Year Highest Impact Paper award for their 2006 paper “Fast Random Walk with Restart and Its Applications” co-authored by Tong, Christos Faloutsos, and Jia-Yu Pan. Faloutsos and Pan are both currently computer science faculty members at Carnegie Mellon University.
Tong is an assistant professor of computer science and engineering in the School of Computing, Informatics, and Decision Systems Engineering. His research interests focus on mining graphs and multimedia in the context of “big data.”
The paper, co-authored by Tong, Christos Faloutsos and Jia-Yu Pan, also received the Best Research Paper Award in 2006 and has been cited more than 400 times.
