Dear Colleagues,
The fall semester is in full swing, and I would like to thank all of you for your efforts in recruiting, retaining, engaging, teaching and mentoring our students. We offer a diverse array of academic programs and research and engagement opportunities, and students continue to choose us in large numbers.
Again this year we welcomed a record number of students to the Fulton Schools of Engineering, and our total enrollment is hovering around 19,000. We are already ranked #1 in undergraduate enrollment and #3 in graduate enrollment (Source: ASEE). Managing that growth can be challenging, though growth also provides invaluable opportunities and makes us a force among engineering colleges and at ASU. Details about our students, graduation rates, programs, faculty and faculty awards can be found in our online fact book, engineering.asu.edu/factbook.
Our students tell us that one of the reasons they choose the Fulton Schools is for the exceptional student experience and for the mentoring and research opportunities that they have with our outstanding faculty. I hope that you will take the time to interact with students informally at one of our many events. I am sure that you will find, as I do, that we have an amazing group of talented and interesting students. You can see the latest events on Inner Circle and download a September calendar of events.
President Crow recently shared information about the ASU Charter (president.asu.edu/about/asucharter) and ASU Strategic Enterprise Report (president.asu.edu/node/1497); I encourage you to familiarize yourself with both. These documents are part of the road map for the Fulton Schools as we articulate our goals for this year and beyond. We have accomplished so much as a college—I know that we will continue to do great things.
Thank you for all that you do to advance the Fulton Schools. I am incredibly fortunate to work with all of you. I welcome your ideas and input and invite you to email me any time at squires@asu.edu.
Kyle
