Abstract
Search relevance is the core of a search engine, while providing differential search service is a key to search engine market place. Machine Learning Ranking is the most effective approach to improve the relevance of a web search engine, and state-of-the-art ranking algorithms will be introduced in this talk. Improving vertical search relevance is one of the most effective methods to provide differential search service, and we will cover the challenges to improve various vertical search engines: local search, shopping search, news search, etc.

Bio
Yi Chang is a director of science in Yahoo Labs, where he is managing the search and anti-abuse science team. His research interests include information retrieval, applied machine learning, natural language processing and social media mining. Yi Chang is the author or coauthor of more than 70 referred journal and conference publications, and he has published the first book in this area of vertical search relevance
