Do you have an interest in moving your innovations to the market or launching a company, but feel it’s not possible with a normal faculty workload? The Fulton Entrepreneurial Professors program offers release time to pursue technology and product commercialization and the start-up of new companies.
Fulton Entrepreneurial Professors are selected via a competitive proposal process and appointed to one- to two-year terms. Faculty selected for this program are designated “Fulton Entrepreneurial Professor”. The first Fulton Entrepreneurial Professors were selected in 2011-2012.
Release time is the primary resource allocated by this program. Additional support may be available as seed funding for prototype or proof-of-concept testing, or research faculty to sustain activity in the Fulton Entrepreneurial Professor’s research group during the appointment period. Mentoring and intellectual property support are provided to all Fulton Entrepreneurial Professors through the Arizona Technology Enterprises Venture Catalyst Program.
I am excited to announce that we are now accepting proposals for our next cohort of Fulton Entrepreneurial Professors. If you are interested, see intheloop.engineering.asu.edu/entrepreneurial-professors-program for complete details.
Proposals are due by Monday, February 2, 2015. Please submit them to Annette Bowers at annette.bowers@asu.edu.
Proposals will be reviewed by a committee comprised mainly of faculty, associate deans, and AzTE representatives. The committee will provide evaluations and recommendations to the dean and notification of outcomes will occur in the last week of February. If you have questions, feel free to contact me directly.
We have had amazing numbers of invention disclosures, patent applications, and patents issued over the past few years, and I’m hoping that this program enables the further development and impact of those innovations.
Happy Thanksgiving, and I hope to see you at Convocation!
Paul
