Introducing the Linux Desktop Support Memo of Understanding

ETS can currently manage Redhat, Fedora and Ubuntu. Owners of the equipment can choose to accept the MOU and ETS support as described, or decline the MOU and the Linux install will be considered unmanaged. The MOU support model will go live on Monday October 27, 2014.

Easy steps to follow when a new computer needs the Linux operating system installed:

  1. Distributed Desktop Support groups please open a Service Now ticket to the IT Support Group: “ETS”, and Request Type “Linux”. Include the owner(Faculty or Staff) and final location of the machine in the ticket.

The Distributed Desktop Support group is responsible for adding the computer to their school inventory system.

  2. ETS Linux desktop support will register the Computer in the Linux MOU system.
  3. When the record is added to the MOU website the owner of the equipment will receive an email to “Approve” or “Decline” the MOU and sign the MOU by checking the box.
  4. When the MOU is signed the computer will be delivered when installation is complete.
