Abstract
This presentation will summarize the experience in design, development and implementation of multi-agent systems for real-time control, diagnostics, production planning and scheduling based on several case studies, like the Shipboard Automation (Rockwell and ONR) and ARUM production planning and scheduling system (VW and Airbus Industries). The latest trends in the field, like exploration of semantics and SOA approaches will be summarized.
Bio
Vladimír Mařík was appointed full professor at the Czech Technical University in 1990. He has been heading the Department of Cybernetics, Czheck Technical University since it was established in 1999 until June 2013. The Department of Cybernetics has been recognized as an EU Center of Research Excellence in 2000 (one of three in the country) for its research performance in the fields of artificial intelligence, robotics and computer vision and was awarded by the prestigious European IST prize in 2006. In July 2013 he was appointed director of the newly founded Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics, and Cybernetics at the Czech Technical University with the goal to build a national center of competence and excellence with up to 350 researchers. He overtook the managing director position of Certicon, a.s. in January 2010. He was one of the founders of this company in 1996, which was originally established as a spin-off of the Czech Technical University. This company, staffed by more than 175 researchers and engineers, is greatly involved in university-industry technology transfer. In 2010, CertiCon became a member of the Austrian Christian Doppler Lab in Vienna participating in the SCADA systems development.
