The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering and the Consortium for Science, Policy and Outcomes (CSPO) are pleased to announce the Lectures in Engineering, Policy and Society (LeEPS).
LeEPS is looking to bring prominent speakers to Arizona State University. The speakers should be able to explore the changing culture of engineering and its role in society, and to help foster closer research and academic ties between Fulton Schools and CSPO. Topics of the lecture can include changing engineering education, societal grand challenges, emerging technologies, responsible innovation, or others that advance the goals of LeEPS. Fulton Schools and CSPO will co-fund up to four lectures in the 2014-2015 academic year, including a modest honorarium for the lecturer and appropriate and allowable travel and meals/reception etc, in the range of $2,500.
Suggest a speaker
Faculty are invited to propose speakers for the lecture series. The two-page proposals should include:
- The name of proposed lecturer.
- A brief bio and abstract of the proposed lecture.
- The names of faculty sponsors who take responsibility for the lecture, if it were to be selected.
- A basic budget.
The best proposals include faculty sponsors from both units and indicate whether proposed lecturer has been contact and agreed in principle to speak.
Send your proposals by email to CSPO co-director Dave Guston at david.guston@asu.edu.
They will be reviewed by Dean Paul Johnson and Guston. Proposals for LeEPS in the fall semester should be submitted by October 1, 2014; those in the spring semester should be submitted by December 1, 2014.
