Report an accessibility problem

Could you live on $2 a day? Could you live on $2 a day for an entire week?

Nearly half of the world’s population lives on $2 a day or less. For one week, students on the Polytechnic campus are asking you to join them.

The $2 Challenge is an experience designed to offer participants a glimpse of how the majority of the world lives on a daily basis. Selected students, staff and faculty live on $2 a day while also sleeping in a cardboard city by the Student Union at the Polytechnic campus from April 7-11, 2014. Throughout this week, students will be raising awareness about global poverty while also working to raise funds for philanthropic organizations and build networks of changemakers to help find solutions to some of this century’s most pervasive problems.

For the Thing on Thursday event on Thursday, April 10, 2014, 4:30–6:30 p.m., you can tour the $2 Challenge cardboard village, learn how to leverage your strengths to inspire positive change, create solutions to some of the world’s most staggering problems, reflect upon the support you have received over your lifetime, and inspire others to action. More information can be found here.
