Gold Fridays
Jessica Slater, Fulton Engineering photographer, pledged to wear gold every Friday—and take a picture—for a year. She didn’t just wear the same gold t-shirt, she wore a unique article of gold clothing every week. Her “Year of Gold” is over and you can see the pictures at asugold.tumblr.com/archive. Congratulations, Jessica!

Show your Sun Devil spirit by wearing gold on Fridays and supporting our student athletes. If you’d like to expand your gold wardrobe, head over to the Sun Devil Campus Store the day before home football games. Your normal faculty and staff discount will be doubled on gold apparel. Be sure to check out the official 2012 t-shirts. They look awesome!

Watch In the Loop for updates on Black Out games and wear black on those Fridays. Special deals for athletics tickets and cultural events will also be posted.

Tailgate parties
There will be plenty of tailgate parties before each home game. The season opener against the NAU Lumberjacks on Thursday, August 30, is the “City of Tempe” game. The ASU Alumni Association and the City of Tempe have teamed up to throw an air-conditioned tailgate party in Old Main’s Carson Ballroom. Tempe residents and City of Tempe employees can also purchase tickets to the football game at a 25-35 percent discount. Learn more or get your tailgate party tickets (includes BBQ dinner).

Devils on Mill is another tailgate party option before each home game. Join Sun Devil fans at the Sixth Street Park for live music, games and food. The Sixth Street entrance to the Brickyard parking garage and Sixth Street east of Mill Avenue will be closed during the Devils on Mill tailgate parties. The Seventh Street entrance to the Brickyard parking garage will remain open. Learn more about Devils on Mill.

Save the date: ASU Art Museum season opening
The ASU Art Museum will celebrate their season opening on September 28 and 29. Bring your appetite (food trucks will be on-site) and prepare to be amazed as the group Movement Connections uses the building as their stage. Movement Connection performances mix parkour, acrobatics, martial arts and dance. Learn more

Got Sparky?
Show your Sun Devil spirit around town with a gold Sparky license plate! Over half of the $25 fee—$17—goes to support the Medallion Scholarship program. And you don’t have to wait in line at the MVD! Starting Friday, August 24, you can pick your plate up right at Old Main on Tempe campus. Join the ASU Alumni Association at 4 p.m. for the grand opening of Old Main as an MVD location to buy Sparky plates. Bring your vehicle registration and walk away your gold license plate.
