Avnet Express announced that it is donating a torn-down General Motors Chevrolet Volt to the Society of Automotive Engineers Formula Electric Team at ASU’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. The 25-member team will have the opportunity to learn more about the technology used in the Volt and further efforts on their own electric car.

The Volt is part of Drive for Innovation, a partnership between UBM Electronics and Avnet Express. The program is designed to showcase electronics innovation and automotive system design. In January, engineers from Munro & Associates and UBM TechInsights disassembled a Chevy Volt removing about 600 components from the battery pack to individual integrated circuits.
The donation was publicly announced at the Avnet Tech Games, held on April 14.
