Artistry, civil engineering combine in student’s honors thesis project
Sam Johnson, a student in Barrett, The Honors College, majoring in civil engineering in the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment, held his thesis defense session at a public exhibition featuring 20 of his paintings. He describes the images he used for the thesis titled The Art of Engineering as “a mixture of simplicity and wildness” in which he tried to meld the precision of engineering structures, processes and designs with artistic freedom of expression.
Strides in battery technology promise progress in energy efficiency (ASU News/Science magazine)
Advances in materials science, engineering design and chemistry are promising breakthroughs in energy storage that would improve the efficiency of energy production, distribution and consumption. Among the three authors of the report is researcher Ravi Prasher, an adjunct faculty member in the School for Engineering or Matter, Transport and Energy, one of ASU’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering.
