The Veteran’s Journey–Transition Through the University Environment
with Robert Stockman, Ph.D., Director of the Phoenix Veterans Center and 22-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps
Join Robert Stockman as he helps ASU faculty and staff gain a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges faced by our military veteran student, one of ASU’s fastest growing student populations. He will explore the unique journey from a structured military lifestyle to the university environment, highlight how some veterans are different from the general student population and share ways you can assist if transition issues arise. He will also touch on the adjustment issues that can be particularly acute for those combat veterans experiencing the effects of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or traumatic brain injury (TBI).
